The bedchamber of Duke Vox Langley IV was the poster example of the design the palace was known for-no furniture. All the more to be spent on the rest; rugs, some overlapping as though they had been laid over sand in a tent, covered the floor completely, appropriately themed for a residence on the edge of the Erg de Lorre. The wink in the jewel of the new feudal European state maintained a perpetual daylight, sacrificing sun and stars. Veins of lit glass in several colors pointed out locations for walkers in the dark and had begun to bleed off the ground; the ubiquitous neon threads crept up its antiquities, the survivors of the ruin that had felled the square in the twentieth century, and inside. The communication parts of our minds so rigidly expect them to speak a certain language that if they start making up words, it can disconcert us like nothing else...in short, if you want to be scary (fun), use the face.
